Jeff & Julie's wedding!

Last weekend we travelled to Kinston, North Carolina to celebrate the wedding of Jeff & Julie West! We had a few travel mishaps (including taking over 14 hours to make it there, missing the actual wedding ceremony, and being delayed going home as well). We had a great time once we finally got there--we made it to the reception, had Saturday morning brunch, and I experienced my first 'pig picking' where we had some Carolina pulled pork! When we travel, we like to 'do as the locals do' so not only did we do the pig picking, but also had a cheddar bo-biscuit and a 'pig in a puppy' which is pulled pork in a hush-puppy bun http://imageskinston.com/index.php/site/articles/food/whats_a_pig_in_a_puppy_head_to_kings_barbeque_to_find_out. The cuisine of eastern Carolina was unique and delicious! And it's a good thing I don't live there cause this is not the healthiest fare!
The celebration was complete with some bluegrass tunes from the Grass Cats! They were awesome. Oh and there was a rainbow filling the sky on Saturday-- which was incredible!

Here are a few pictures from our weekend--

Baby shower!

Last weekend I had my very first baby shower! My friends Lucy Lennox, Katie Hunt, and Jennifer Brasher were the hostesses!
We had so much fun! It was at Gloria's, that great Mexican restaurant in Addison. Jennifer was actually unable to come because she had just given birth to Sophie 2 days before!

I felt so blessed to have my friends gather to support and celebrate the upcoming birth of baby Peden! We got every book we had registered for, a play mat, blankets, burp cloths, and a baby swing! Even though they couldn't be there, baby Peden's aunt Mary Frances got her stroller so she'll be travelling in style, and her Sue-Sue and Pops got her car seat!

My mom (not sure what baby Peden will call her yet) got her a beautiful hand woven blanket-- and the rocker so we can rock her to sleep :)

Here are a few pictures from the celebration:

27w, 3d

Just thought I'd add an updated picture of the baby bump! Davis took this last Saturday (when I was 27 weeks, 3 days). I'm now 28 weeks, 1 day, which means I've entered the THIRD TRIMESTER of this pregnancy! So exciting! 83 days to go! Wow we have a lot to do between now and then, but I cannot wait to meet this little one who has been growing inside me for so many days!

We went to another appointment with the OB last week, and she was actually already measuring 28 weeks (according to the doc).

When we go again (at 30 weeks) we will get our 3d ultrasound (we elected to do this because a. we want to see her again and b. we have extra healthcare dollars in our account so why not!)

I will be posting a ton of those 3d pictures! Supposedly we'll actually be able to see her face and features very much like what she'll look like. I am so thrilled. Plus, Davis will bring our video camera and will be very stealth-like in filming the occasion (they charge extra for a DVD but we've documented a couple of our other ultrasounds and they didn't even notice!)

We've started packing up the house so that we'll be ready for our move to our new house when we close on that (which is still on schedule for mid-December!) I found out that several of my new neighbors are also pregnant (one is due in April, the other in May) so baby peden will have a lot of friends her own age to play with!

We are so excited for the holiday season-- we'll be very busy but it will be fun! Davis' sister Mary Frances is coming over early for Thanksgiving so we're going to drive to Mississippi with Delkus in tow to meet our little nephew Matty (I guess he's not as little anymore!). They will stay through Christmas but we'll have to be in Dallas since the doc says I'll have to stop travelling at 36 weeks.

I have my first baby shower this weekend hosted by Lucy, Jenn, and Katie! I'm looking forward to celebrating with my friends! It should be great! Which reminds me... must go find something to wear!

Nursery!

Well thanks to Davis' cousin Jennifer we are well on our way to baby Peden's nursery design! Jennifer is a fabulous interior designer and has generously offered her expertise in helping make baby Peden's room as beautiful as it can be!

Anyway, we're still in the process of finding all the pieces that will go into her room, but here are some sketches Jennifer came up with-- and FYI, the B in the picture is for BABY.... so don't go thinking our daughter will have a B name because she most likely won't!
We are now searching for the perfect chair! You know, a rocker, swiveling, comfortable chair to sleep and nurse and rest and read books in! If you have any suggestions, please share! We don't want it to look like a typical rocking chair...something we could possibly use in a different room later!

Less than 100 days!

I cannot believe in less than 100 days our daughter will be here! Time has flown by, strangely enough, although at the beginning of this pregnancy I never thought we'd have the patience to wait 40 weeks to meet her! Here is a recent pic of my belly-- this was taken a 1.5 weeks ago when i was 25 weeks along (approaching 27 weeks now!). I'm feeling rather huge but I guess that comes with being pregnant! I am gathering from looking at this picture that it is fairly obvious that I'm 'with child' as Davis likes to say.

Anyway, we're also quickly approaching the completion of our home (at least we think!) They are finishing up the drywall, and after that they'll be installing all of the selections we made (like flooring, countertops, fixtures, etc). I'm so glad we live close by so that we can have a daily view of progress (I'm sure our builder just loves this too!) Our builder says his goal is for us to 'close' on the home by December 15.... plenty of time to get moved in before baby Peden arrives! We started the task of packing today-- I know we're at least 2 months away from moving, but it was probably a good idea to start now rather than wait until my belly is even bigger and I'm even more un-helpful! We got our sunroom packed up-- which means it looks empty but I suppose it is worth it so that we have less to do as we approach the move-in to the new house!

I'm tempted to never take another picture while pregnant again because I'm feeling so unattractive but Davis says its history in the making so I'm sure he'll convince me to take more. She'll be worth it, I know!

Pregnancy Cravings

What on earth IS THAT? Yes folks, that would be my latest pregnancy craving.... a wheat thin topped with pimento cheese, topped with a pickle! GROSS? No it's a heavenly creation that totally satisfied this pregnant mama! As I was eating it I realized how weird it was, so I had to snap a quick photo with my phone and document the momentous occasion.
Gotta love it!

We recorded her heartbeat!

I hope this works! We recorded baby Peden's heartbeat this afternoon! It's the sweetest sound (ok it sounds like horses galloping, but it's the sweetest sound to me!)
